In June 2025, we were invited to compose for a landmark celebration of Zara’s 50th anniversary. Together with artist Es Devlin and filmmaker Ruth Hogben, we transformed the Observatory at the summit of Monte de San Pedro into a living, breathing instrument of light and sound.
As visitors approached the cúpula, 50 Songs of the Sea could be heard carried on the air, fragments of poetry guiding the way towards the Observatory. Within its dome, the presence of 148,445 collaborators who have shaped Zara was woven into the fabric of our music; an evolving symphony between land, sea, and people.
Our composition was carved from the waves, the winds, and the voices of A Coruña. It celebrates the spirit, care, and craft of those whose work has shaped Zara. The Observatory became a vast resonant body, carrying the echoes of the past fifty years.
